Our staff brings decades of competitive experience and a genuine love for the game to our 8u, 10u, 13u, and 14u teams. They are dedicated mentors who prioritize player growth and safety, combining professional instruction with a supportive, "team-first" culture to develop high-character athletes.

Emiliano "Chubbs" Martinez
MANAGER
Emiliano "Chubbs" Martinez leads the So Cal Nationals with a wealth of local experience and a deep commitment to the Pasadena baseball community. A proud alumnus of John Muir High School (Class of 2019), Coach Martinez was a standout multi-positional talent for the Mustangs, excelling as a third baseman, pitcher, and outfielder. Following his decorated high school career, he transitioned to the collegiate level, where he continued to refine his expertise and passion for the game. Today, he serves as a pivotal mentor in the region, balancing his roles as a Head Coach for the Pasadena Poly JV team and the Head Coach for So Cal Nationals. His coaching philosophy centers on developing high-character athletes who understand the technical nuances of baseball while competing with the intensity and "team-first" mentality that defines our organization.

Harper Taylor
MANAGER
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and a deep-seated passion for the game, Harper Taylor is dedicated to the technical and personal development of every athlete at So Cal Nationals. With a coaching philosophy rooted in the fundamentals, he focuses on building the mental toughness and physical skills necessary for high-level competition. Coach Taylor’s approach emphasizes the importance of teamwork and integrity, ensuring that his players grow as leaders both on and off the field.

Pete Soto
GUEST COACH
Pete Soto is a baseball coach and content creator known for his high-energy approach to player development and the game. He’s worked closely with high school, college, and elite travel players, focusing on confidence, competitiveness, and in-game awareness. Soto blends on-field coaching with baseball content, giving fans and players an authentic look at baseball culture while helping athletes elevate their game.

Coach Sicka
MANAGER
A Pasadena native, Coach Sicka began his journey at PSWLL, where his grandfather instilled a "multi-positional" philosophy to ensure a limitless future in the game. After competing for Maranatha High and Providence Christian, the pandemic transitioned his focus from playing to mentorship. Now coaching for the So Cal Nationals, he focuses on developing well-rounded athletes prepared for any challenge on the diamond.

Fausto De La Torre Jr
MANAGER
A Pasadena native with a lifelong connection to the diamond, Fausto De La Torre Jr. competed from youth leagues through the collegiate level before transitioning his focus to mentorship. After the recent fires brought his collegiate playing aspirations to an unexpected halt, he found a new calling in helping young athletes grow as both players and individuals. His coaching philosophy centers on instilling discipline, confidence, and teamwork, ensuring his players gain valuable life lessons they can carry with them long after the final out.

Koji Steven Sakai

Writer and producer Koji Steven Sakai is a veteran local coach, formerly with the Pasadena Rangers. As a travel ball father, he is dedicated to fostering a high-character, competitive environment for the Nationals.
